Music is a great way to express yourself, be creative, and feel good. The Youth Music Initiative (YMI) is Scotland’s way of making sure music is part of every child’s life and learning. We believe all children should get the chance to enjoy music—no matter their background or experience. In Aberdeenshire, Creative Scotland’s YMI Formula Fund makes sure every pupil gets free music lessons for a year before finishing primary school. We also work with pre-school groups and young people in the community to help those who need it most, supporting efforts to reduce child poverty. Thanks to Creative Scotland, Live Life Aberdeenshire’s Arts Team offers high-quality music experiences.
