Sharing a space with the dance studio, our bouldering wall is the newest addition to the campus. Built by Dream Climbing Walls, the structure is 4.5 metres in height and 15 metres in length. It offers unroped climbing on slabs, overhangs, vertical walls, aretes and corners. In addition, part of the wall is a fabulous 25 degree overhanging Moonboard. This standardised interactive training wall connects a global community of climbers through shared problems and competition performance rankings.
The sport of Bouldering is an Olympic Games event and a physical, technical, and mental problem-solving challenge. It requires little personal equipment other than a pair of rock shoes and a chalk bag and chalk! It is an activity for all ages and abilities and a super all round workout.
Since opening, the wall has been extensively used by young people as part of holiday activity camps. This has included successful ASN sessions. The wall is now fully open to the public on Friday evenings, Saturday’s Sunday’s. There are family sessions during these times with instructional staff present to offer advice. In addition to this there are open adult sessions. Users will be taken through a short safety induction and sign off on the initial visit to the wall.
Rock shoes must be worn on the wall. These can be hired for a small additional cost.
