Nordic Walking: Walking and activities with Nordic poles

Walking with Nordic poles provides an opportunity to enhance the physical activity of walking by including muscle groups in the upper body and core.

It’s an activity open to all ages irrespective of physical condition. No previous experience or equipment is required to join in a technique session.

There are some similarities to cross country skiing’s classic technique and the correct pole technique allows distribution of physical strain to be distributed to muscle groups in the whole body.

It’s a safe and healthy activity which engages muscles of the upper and lower body as well as the core to provide symmetrical training of the whole body.

It’s a great aerobic activity which you can do from your front door or on your favourite walks.

Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre instructors can also provide training in use of poles for a greater intensity of physical training involving higher speeds and more challenging terrain.
