Held in May, Local Community History Month is an annual event held throughout the United Kingdom which aims to raise awareness and celebrate the histories of our local communities.
During the month various activities take place across the country including historical walks, exhibitions, lectures and community events.
Aberdeenshire Libraries Local Studies Centre staff are holding a series of talks throughout May, guiding residents throughout Aberdeenshire on how to delve into the history of their homes. Staff will provide insights into how to use the historical records including old maps, census data, valuation rolls and books. There will be ample time after the talk for people to browse some of these resources, with staff on hand to answer any queries.
