Since 2023, Cycle Aberdeenshire has a had a partnership with the Alba Development Road Team, the Aberdeenshire based Women’s Elite cycling team. For 2025, they are the Handsling Alba Development Road Team and Cycle Aberdeenshire’s journey with them continues across the UK and Europe as they race at UCI Continental level and you can follow them via regular updates on their social media pages and via the Live Life Aberdeenshire social media pages.
Cycle Aberdeenshire oversees the process of aligning our venues with the Cycling Friendly Employer Scheme from Cycling Scotland. To date the following venues have been assessed as meeting the criteria:
In addition, Cycle Aberdeenshire has secured specific, and ring fenced, funding to allow the installation of secure cycle shelters for use by staff at these venues.

Coming soon in 2025 will be our Tour of Britain “Legacy Routes” resources. Following the successful visit of the AJ Bell Tour of Britain to Aberdeenshire in 2022, we can now provide our suggested “Legacy” routes so that you can enjoy the full Stage 1 route from the 2022 race, some suggested shorter routes that encompass different sections of the Stage 1 and enjoyable family routes that allow everyone to experience the Aberdeenshire roads graced by some of the world’s top cyclists.

In August 2023, the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships took place in Glasgow and across Scotland and as part of the national programme of support, Cycle Aberdeenshire oversaw the deployment of a three year funding programme that was allocated to Aberdeenshire and to all local authorities across Scotland.
